Project Engineering was a unique blend of project management, construction management and engineering.  As a project engineer at Technip, we were tasked with installing a 160 ton compressor package on BP’s Nakika semi-submersible platform with our G1200 vessel.  The deck height of the compressor’s final position is an approximate 104 above sea level.  In the course of this project we were the primary point of contact for BP’s project team and subcontractors.  A custom clamshell lifting frame was designed and fabricated by Versabar to work with their rigging selection.  With the rigging, clamshell and dynamic amplification factors the design lift was over 200 tons.  The project was completed safely, on time and on budget.
